Burns Night Supper

Friday, 26th January 2007

An excellent evening was held at Ince Public Hall to celebrate Rabbie Burns. The haggis, carried by Stewart Mackay, was piped in by Joe Henderson. The address, with gusto and plenty action, was given by George Penman. After a first class meal we were entertained to a lively and interesting speech for the Immortal Memory delivered by Ian Black, Chieftain of the Lancashire & Cheshire Federation of Scottish Societies. An amusing "Toast to the Lassies" was provided by David Campbell and a very dry, witty "Reply for the Lassies" was given by Agnes Walker. David Clayton sang "The Star of Robbie Burns" as well as several of Burns songs.

The meal was followed by an enjoyable evening of both Scottish Country and Old Time dances.
